I have found myself that links I got from other sites, create more members in my community, instead of ad campaigns that bring in lots of traffic.

In any way people think that the internet works fast - and to some point this is true - but if you want to make money in this business you need to learn from a lot of mistakes that you'll do, and then be in position to create a successfull site. One way or another internet business is not a "get rich quick" scheme :)</description>
