I really want a MacBook Pro
Published: March 14th, 2007I really want a macbook pro, should I get one?
I would really like to get a Mac Book Pro, I’m pretty much sold on the Apple computers now ever since I got an iMac. I think it’s time that I had a laptop to take with me anywhere, the thing is they are freaking expensive.
I’m trying to get lucky on eBay to get a MBP for around 1,200 but I am not getting lucky yet. Has anyone else gone this route, in fact can anyone sell me THEIRS? Haha.
Anyway, I also just got a slicehost account, I was so happy to find an email saying ‘Your slice is ready, continue blah blah to sign up’ (They were closed down on new slices because of such high demand, good job guys!).
I got my server up within an hour on the deprec + capistrano combo. I have to give kudos to the authors Mike and Craig for deprec.

Welcome aboard Daniel. I would definitely recommend a mac laptop - how about a macbook? That’s what we use, you can get them w/ 1GB mem for about 1k.
Haha wow that was a quick reply. How did you do that? Woot, an official reply from Slicehost, you guys rock.
Anyway, yeah I was actually thinking about that - but then I was concerned that the 13inches would not be enough for doing some coding.
That is a LOT cheaper though and I could definitely buy that without cringing. How is it treating you guys?
We all have macbooks and hook up to big LCDs, keyboards and mice at the office. I am real hard on laptops, so it’s tough to spend 2k+. I would like a MBP, but not sure it’s worth the premium over the MB. The gap between the MB and MBP is very small at the moment, basically the screen size.
Thanks man, you probably just saved me a grand. I really want to go for the black one though, why does it have to be $400 more? :( lol.
Don’t the macbooks only support the 23 inch option though?
Not sure, I won’t be getting a 30″ display anytime soon though… btw I have a black macbook now as a loaner while my white one is being repaired. Save some money and buy the cheapest white one you can, then add 2GB of RAM. That is the biggest performance booster IMO. The one I have now is the 2.0 GHZ w/ 1GB ram Black and it is sluggish.
Ready. Set. Go.

You don't have to worry about your e-mail address being sold to a russian-spam-mafia. I'm only going to use it for my own weird needs; like asking you out for a date on a lonely night of coding.
