Interesting Statistics From A Web Design Survey

Published: October 16th, 2007

Very interesting results from a survey conducted by A List Apart. The results may even take you by surprise!

A List Apart, and An Event Apart conducted a massively scaled survey of those who make websites. The actual raw data exceeds over 33,000 entries. That’s a lot of data to crunch right there! There’s some really interesting statistics in the survey findings. I was surprised to see how many in the industry are actually “unsatisfied” with their job. That’s really interesting, because I’ve always looked at web-development to be more of a hobby people get paid to do; where could you go wrong?

There’s so much data I didn’t have time to look over the entire survey, but I’m sure it’s all really valuable to anyone. How do you feel about the results?

The racial and gender demographics were the most profound to me. I knew that we were almost all guys and nearly all white but I didn’t know it was *that* bad.

Makes me want to do something about it… but I’m not sure what.

Haha, yeah, that was really interesting. I also liked how women were more satisfied in the industry than men. Very interesting stuff!

I think it’d be interesting to do a statistical survey on utilizing OS X. :-)

You don't have to worry about your e-mail address being sold to a russian-spam-mafia. I'm only going to use it for my own weird needs; like asking you out for a date on a lonely night of coding.
