Skype’s Account Management UI Impresses Me
Published: February 13th, 2009Skype’s account management page features a very impressive UI and I just want to share it with you all.
I needed to check something on my Skype account, so I logged into my “account” on Skype.com and I noticed a very impressive UI interface for surfacing what features are enabled in your account.

I just wanted to share how impressed I was by this functionality. It illustrates enabled functionality perfectly, and it allows you to easily enable features by clicking the tab and signing up. It’s so beautiful!
Kudos to who ever designed this.

That is a very nice upselling UI. As a user you want to thank them for showing you what you don’t have.
Their business administration UI, on the other hand, is crap. It’s very awkward (if not impossible) to frequently rearrange service levels in such a way that doesn’t incur an excess of fees. I suspect this is rooted in how the underlying system integrates regular user accounts with business administration features, but regardless, it’s very frustrating. I (wrongly) assumed the business functions would be as easy to use as normal user features.
Ready. Set. Go.
In terms of the formatting, you're allowed to use markdown, textile, or basic html; it's truly up to you -- what strikes your fancy?
You don't have to worry about your e-mail address being sold to a russian-spam-mafia. I'm only going to use it for my own weird needs; like asking you out for a date on a lonely night of coding.
